Summer Camp Slow Baja Style

Experience Baja like never before: slow travel, scenic dirt roads, delicious food, and new friends. Summer Camp Slow Baja Style is all about classic camp activities—horseback riding, hikes, swims, great food, and lively conversations under the stars. Any 4x4 or adventurous 2WD vehicle, new or old, is welcome.

This is no ordinary road trip. On the Slow Baja Adventure, you’ll traverse Baja Norte’s legendary dirt roads, feast on mouthwatering meals, and pitch your tent in awe-inspiring settings. The journey kicks off on Sunday morning, June 14th, just outside San Diego. Together, we’ll cross the border and caravan to the remarkable Rancho La Bellota. There, our welcoming host Raul serves up a fresh lunch before leading us on a relaxed horseback ride through the ranch’s wild beauty. As dusk settles, a ranch-raised lamb slow-roasted for twelve hours is served up in a feast under the stars. After dinner, we’ll gather around the campfire, sip a little Tequila Fortaleza, and share stories as new friendships spark.

Slow Baja is all about community and camaraderie, whatever you drive. Newbies and seasoned Baja adventurers alike will delight in slowing down, discovering hidden ranches, tasting local flavors, hiking, stargazing, roasting marshmallows, and enjoying every Summer Camp-inspired moments together.

This six-day adventure includes two ranch stays, epic dirt drives, and unforgettable landscapes—all experienced at a slower pace. We’ll have two-night stays at Rancho La Bellota and Rancho La Concepcion, and a another camp night to be announced soon. We will wrap up the week with a poolside fiesta at the beautiful Horsepower Ranch Hotel. Our route will make great memories and hopefully some friendships that last long after the trip ends.
