Experience seven days of immersive, small-group slow travel with the Slow Baja Winter Expedition—open to vehicles of any age. We’ll begin north of the border and remain together throughout the journey. Our adventure kicks off at Rancho La Bellota, my home away from home in Tecate. Upon arrival, we’ll set up camp and head out for a horseback ride before savoring hand-squeezed margaritas at happy hour. The evening unfolds with a beautiful, slow-roasted lamb dinner and stories shared around the campfire.
Heading south, visit a dog rescue, embark on an epic beach drive, and camp at an oceanfront nature preserve, all on our way to marvel at whales in Ojo de Liebre, Along the way, we’ll relish incredible food, encounter towering cacti, and spend a memorable night at Rancho Escondido—where Don Oskar grills steaks the size of license plates and entertains us with corridos sung by the campfire. Five nights of camping culminate with a stay at a beachfront hotel on the Gulf of California, where we’ll clean up for the Baja Bound Finish Line Fiesta and the presentation of the Slow Baja “Baja Is Right For You” award.
