Air-Cooled Only Expedition

Join us for an extraordinary off-road driving and culinary adventure celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Meyer’s Manx Record Run fro La Paz to Tijuana. We will start in La Paz and take a leisurely and scenic route exploring some of the surviving dirt roads from the original 1967 record route. Along the way we will savor delicious food, and stay at rustic ranches and charming hotels each night.

Community, camaraderie, and relaxed travel are the key ingredients that make the Slow Baja Vintage unique. Ideally suited for Baja Bugs, Dune Buggies, VW Things, and Historic Race Vehicles (driven slowly), the Slow Baja Air-Cooled Expedition is your ticket to a bucket-list adventure.

Our seven-day slow travel experience will both exhaust and excite you, hopefully sparking your interest to return and explore the hidden beauty of Baja. With ranch stays, beach drives, and a bucket-list journey through the every type of terrain in Baja, this Slow Baja Vintage is an event not to be missed. Our Baja Bound Insurance finish-line fiesta will be served poolside at the renowned Horsepower Ranch.

Nuts and bolts:

**Nuts and Bolts: What to Expect**

Expect four to six hours of driving daily. This time estimate excludes delays for breakdowns, tire changes, airing up and down, taco binges, dog petting, ice cream stops, spontaneous swims, and silt bed extractions. You will need a valid passport. Additionally, all vehicles will need to purchase Mexican driving insurance, and we recommend Baja Bound Insurance. We also require all participants to purchase travel insurance with medical extraction coverage; check out World Nomads for details.

Your entry fee includes pre-planned routes, two meals per day, hotel lodging, double occupancy, and parking lot happy hour with fresh-squeezed margaritas and fine sipping tequila. Our staff will handle photography and filming, allowing you to fully enjoy the experience. A medic and a mechanic will travel with us to ensure your safety. Please note that your entry fee does not cover fuel, repairs, towing, or any other expenses related to vehicle breakdowns in Baja.

On the Slow Baja, sharing is caring, so please plan accordingly. We’ll enjoy a very happy “happy hour” each night, but be sure to keep your cooler stocked. Bring your favourite campfire drink for the evenings and your coffee kit for the mornings if hotel coffee doesn’t get you moving. If you have questions about your vehicle, the terrain, or the necessary gear, please use the contact button below.
